Ive got to say that some of my favorite bands have released weak albums this year. Not crappy albums, but still weak.
The White Stripes: Icky Thump
Not one song stood out for me. There ok, but after the great album Elephant, and the experimental Get Behind Me Satan, this new album pales in comparison.
Interpol: Our Love To Admire
With the exeption of the songs "Pioneer to the Falls" "Rest My Chemistry" and "The Lighthouse", this is Interpol at their weakest. The song "Wreaking Ball" sounds like a song that started as a good idea, and then they couldnt figure out how to finish it. The bass player Carlos D. is one of the best, and his bass playing, in my opinion, is what made Interpol the band they were. Not anymore. Those great bass lines are completly gone in the new album.
Queens of the Stone Age: Era Vulgaris
I hate to say this cuz Im a big QOTSA fan, but this album was kinda boring to me. Like the new Interpol, its getting all kinds of good reviews, although I cant understand why.
Smashing Pumpkins: Zeitgeist
Billy Corgan is nowhere near as good as he use to be. Retire man!
Very good albums that didnt disappoint.
Nine Inch Nails: Year Zero
Tegan and Sara: The Con
Marilyn Manson (surprisingly!): Eat Me, Drink Me
Im crossing my fingers the new Mars Volta will be good. Stick to indie bands (although not all of them are good) for good music. The mainstream-ish bands disapointed this year. Ok, this will be my last post for at least three weeks, things have been busy for me here. See you soon comrades
